The Perspectives Program

What is the Perspectives Program?

The Perspectives Program is a series of self-directed professional & personal development courses designed by the VSE Career Centre for BIE students and new BIE grads. This program aims to:

  • Support your professional and personal growth through self-directed learning and available resources
  • Equip you with career management tools
  • Encourage critical thinking for academic and career decisions
  • Facilitate networking with peers, alums, employers, and other stakeholders
  • Provide job search tools for local, national, and international opportunities

Be sure to keep your notifications on in the Perspectives Program homepage as this is the primary method through which the VSE Career Centre announces events, job opportunities, resources, and more.

Applications

This course is designed to walk you through the job application process. It covers strategies to stay organized during the job application process as well as resume and cover letter writing.

Excel for Beginners I

Developed in collaboration with BIE alum with industry experience using Microsoft Excel, this in-house course covers what you need to know to gain a fundamental understanding of key Excel functions and formatting.

How to Prepare for Networking

This course includes key information and resources (e.g., how to prepare a young professional bio) to help you prepare for networking events. It is particularly useful to help you get ready for the VSE Career Centre’s annual BIE Career Discovery and Networking event as well as speed networking events.

Interviewing

This course supports you through the interview process and can help you build your confidence as you prepare for interviews and gain insights on the type of interviews and questions you might encounter what to do during your interview and how to negotiate job offers.

Professional and Personal Development

In this course, you will learn how to build a better understanding of your unique skills and strengths, how to construct your personal brand, and how to apply this to achieving your career goals.
