Nancy E. Clarke
Career Centre Director
With over 22 years of experience working in career services, and having lived in three different countries, I’m passionate about supporting both domestic and international individuals with discovering and navigating their career choices. I graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Administrative and Commercial Studies (Organizational and Human Resources) and I am both a Professional and Personal Coach (2011) and Emotional Intelligence Coach (2018). In 2014 I moved from Montreal to Vancouver as I was hired to start and establish a career centre that would support students in the Bachelor of International Economics program. It’s amazing how ten plus years have already passed since I began my work at UBC.
Fun fact:
One of my earliest experiences was working as a Destination Representative in Ixtapa, Mexico, I worked for over two ½ years on cruise ships, and then lived in Bequai (a small island in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines before returning to live in Toronto, Canada.

Iva Culjak
Program Coordinator
I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Communications (Journalism) from Croatia. Having lived in three countries and traveled to over 35 others, I embrace the philosophy of “one person – multiple careers.” This belief has guided my journey from a journalism background to roles and side gigs in language teaching, finance, operations, and my current position. I am fluent in Croatian, German, and English. As the Program Coordinator, my goal is to establish a robust Volunteer Program that provides BIE students with meaningful experiences by offering them mentorship and growth opportunities as they navigate an office setting and develop leadership skills.
Fun fact:
I love living in Vancouver and have hiked over 50 peaks across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
